Its master data offering combines Multidomain MDM and packaged 360 applications, run as SaaS on its Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) with CLAIRE AI, and Product 360, a PIM that also runs on-premises.
Viamedici

A privately held German vendor, founded in 1999 and based in Ettlingen. Its EPIM/5 platform combines multidomain MDM, PIM, DAM and product configuration (CPQ) with native SAP connectivity. Its industry pages centre on manufacturing sectors such as automotive, electronics, building products and tools.

01 · How they differData domains and scope
Informatica's Multidomain MDM SaaS lists domains such as material, cost centre, employee, finance and reference data, with Product 360 as a separate PIM and a GDSN add-on that connects to 1WorldSync and atrify. Viamedici runs suppliers, customers, products, accounts, markets and regions on one configurable data model, with PIM, DAM and CPQ on the same EPIM/5 platform; a GDSN data pool connection is not published.
Which kinds of master data each platform manages, and how far it reaches into product content and retailer networks. This decides whether one platform can carry the whole programme or needs others around it.
Data domains
Customer, product, supplier, location, cost centre, material, employee, asset, finance and reference data in Multidomain MDM SaaS. Packaged 360 applications cover customer, product, supplier, finance and reference data.87
Suppliers, customers, products, accounts, markets and regions in VIA/MDM, on one configurable data model.28
Product content and PXM
Product 360, a separate PIM that Informatica markets as agentic AI PIM for commerce, linking product data with customer, supplier and material domains.9
GDSN and data pools
The GDSN Accelerator, an add-on to Product 360, connects to 1WorldSync Item Management and the atrify data pool.10

Syndication to retailers
Product 360 lists intelligent syndication of product information to sales and marketing channels. We found no published list of retailer connectors.9

02 · How they differMatching, golden record and data quality
Informatica describes declarative match rules with blocking, match models that stewards train on labelled pairs and attribute-level survivorship through its Trust Framework. Viamedici lists matching, deduplication, golden record management and automatic conflict resolution in VIA/MDM, while its matching methods and survivorship rules are not published.
How each platform finds duplicates, decides which value wins and keeps data clean. This is the core of master data management, and where demos are easiest to stage and hardest to prove.
Match and merge
Declarative match rules with indexing and blocking, plus match models that stewards train on labelled pairs. High-confidence matches merge automatically; low-confidence ones go to review.8
Records from source systems are mapped, matched and merged, with entity deduplication listed as a VIA/MDM feature. Matching methods are not described.28
Golden record and survivorship
Attribute-level survivorship through what Informatica calls a patented Trust Framework, weighing source, most common value, recency and completeness. Trust rules run on merge, source update and unmerge.8
Golden record management is a listed feature, and Viamedici says VIA/MDM resolves conflicts automatically. Survivorship rules are not described.28
Data quality
Batch and real-time profiling, standardisation, validation and enrichment, with DUNS, SWIFT/BIC and NPI checks and address, phone and email verification.8
Data quality, reference data and metadata management are listed features. Supplier data passes validation rules and approval steps before it reaches the golden record.28
Hierarchies and relationships
Balanced, unbalanced, ragged and recursive hierarchies, with one entity in several hierarchies and point-in-time versions. CLAIRE can infer relationships across domains.8

03 · How they differGovernance and stewardship
Informatica offers prebuilt approval workflows with separation of duties, a low-code designer and a steward task inbox with conditional SLAs, with end-to-end lineage in its separate governance products. Viamedici uses BPMN workflows with four-eyes approvals, a Supplier Portal where suppliers maintain their own data and up to six historical versions per attribute; details of a steward worklist are not published.
How changes are proposed, approved and traced, and what data stewards work in every day. Governance decides whether the golden record stays golden after the project team leaves.
Workflow and approvals
Prebuilt multi-step approval workflows and a low-code drag-and-drop designer. Separation of duties between creators and approvers can be enforced.8
BPMN workflows with four-eyes approvals. Suppliers maintain their own master data in a Supplier Portal, inside governed workflows.28
Stewardship tools
A configurable task inbox, steward views limited to their own data and tasks, conditional SLAs and a Similar Records panel. A Data Steward Agent is due in Q4 2026.86
Not published: the MDM page names role-based governance controls but no steward worklist or console.
Audit and lineage
A full audit trail of who changed what and when, with a timeline view by effective date. End-to-end data lineage sits in Informatica's separate governance products.820
Traceability of every data change, with metadata versioning that keeps up to six historical versions per attribute.28

04 · How they differArchitecture and integration
Informatica runs MDM SaaS on IDMC in regional PODs and exchanges SAP material and supplier records in batch jobs through its Material 360 and Supplier 360 extensions. Viamedici runs on AWS, Microsoft Azure, its own sovereign cloud or on-premises, with native RFC connectivity to SAP ECC 6, S/4HANA and SAP CRM and, from October 2026, an Event Hub that pushes changes in real time.
How each platform is hosted and how it connects to ERP, CRM and commerce systems. MDM sits in the middle of the landscape, so integration effort often outweighs licence cost.

05 · How they differAI features
Informatica's Data Quality Agent and native MCP support are generally available from Spring 2026, and CLAIRE trains match models from steward labels. Viamedici added its Data Expert chat assistant in October 2026 and lists AI data quality and classification for VIA/PIM360°, with an MCP server and the SAM assistant in development; AI matching in its MDM is not described.

Neither publishes prices. Informatica sells Informatica Processing Units, or MDM per domain on a records basis, while Viamedici presents EPIM/5 as modules (VIA/MDM, VIA/PIM360°, VIA/DAM and VIA/Configuration) without published packages.

Informatica names global system integrators such as Accenture, Capgemini, Deloitte and TCS, with Distributor, Platinum, Gold and Silver badges for channel partners. Viamedici cites 30 international partners, with valantic CEC, INFOLOX and Abilex at Platinum level next to Gold and Registered partners.
Who implements the platform. MDM programmes run for years, so the partner's experience in your industry and ERP matters as much as the software.

In the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrants, Informatica announced Leader placements for MDM and PIM, and Viamedici announced Niche Player for MDM and Visionary for PIM. Informatica also cites a Leader placement in The Forrester Wave for MDM, Q2 2025, and Viamedici cites IDC Leader placements for PIM from 2024-2025 and 2025.

Expert view
Informatica Product 360 or Viamedici: it depends on your requirements
Informatica and Viamedici both run several master data domains next to a PIM, both connect to SAP for material records, and neither publishes a price list. The real differences show up in the MDM programme itself: how matching and survivorship are configured, how stewards work through their tasks, how records move to and from SAP, and where the platform can run.
Informatica's Multidomain MDM, with its Trust Framework, CLAIRE and domains such as material and finance, suits teams that treat master data as part of a wider data management estate. Viamedici's EPIM/5, with MDM, PIM, DAM and CPQ on one platform and native SAP connectivity, suits manufacturers that want product and master data in one place, in the cloud of their choice or on-premises. Neither strength matters unless it answers a requirement you can name.
